JACKIE GORDON (NY-02) RAISES 1.79 MILLION IN THIRD QUARTER

Gordon announces Q3 fundraising more than doubling the previous-record breaking fundraising in Q2.

BABYLON, NY— Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Jackie Gordon, Democratic candidate running to succeed Peter King’s NY-02 Congressional seat, announced today that she raised $1.79 million in the third quarter, more than doubling quarter two’s record-breaking fundraising.

“I am proud to have the support of so many Long Islanders who are stepping up to contribute their time and hard-earned dollars to support our campaign,” said Gordon. “Together, we are building a grassroots, people-powered campaign that is focused on the issues that matter to  Long Island families: expanding access to health care, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, and providing tax relief to families and small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Gordon’s Q3 fundraising haul demonstrates her momentum as Election Day draws near. Gordon’s total fundraising for the cycle now totals more than $3.4 million, nearly half of which was raised during this fundraising period.

During the third quarter, Gordon received contributions from more than 14,800 unique donors. 92 percent of the contributions she received were less than $200, demonstrating the grassroots support behind her campaign.

These contributions have allowed the Gordon campaign to launch two television ads in the New York City media market and reach voters across the district.

“These fundraising numbers are a reflection of the tremendous support behind Jackie’s candidacy. Long Islanders want a representative who will rise above divisive partisan politics to put working families first, which is exactly what Jackie will do in Congress. Unlike our opponent, Jackie isn’t taking a dime from corporate PACs because she’s running to represent Long Islanders, not corporate special interests,” said Meg Scribner, Gordon’s campaign manager.

Gordon has outpaced her opponent in fundraising and bipartisan endorsements to succeed Rep. Peter King, showing broad support across the Second District for her to be its next representative in Congress. Additionally, this race is widely regarded as one of the most competitive congressional districts in the country. POLITICO Election Forecast and three other national election forecasters Inside Elections, Cook Political Report, and The Daily Kos have upgraded New York’s Second Congressional District’s race designation from “Leans Republican” to a “Toss Up”.
